Ah vacation, takes you away from life. I did miss life. I missed interacting with my friends/tweeps. I missed my dogs (and they missed me). I missed cable tv with a zillion channels. But going on a cruise for 8 days away was much needed. That is where I was, just in-case you were wondering, I went on a cruise to Acapulco, Ixtapa and Manzanillo, Mexico. I was pretty much MIA from twitter, facebook and my email. I focused on things I didn't get to do very much or had done at all. I got to read a book without interruption, attend a wine education session, sing karaoke badly, listen to the ocean, needlepoint, let a baby sea turtle go in the ocean, lay on the beach, go on a wave runner, and use my spanish skills (uno, dos, tres and so on...). I drank, ate and was merry for a while. No news was good news while I was away, my time away deleted any Oscars, earthquakes, Celebrity ODs or any local happenings. I am now catching up on this stuff now. I usually equate my vacations to happenings in the news. i.e. Catalina=Katrina, Vegas=shuttle explosion. While on board, I realized the power of a captive audience, I put $50 into their casino because I liked the idea of a penny slot machine that made you bet 90 pennies at one time so you can play a silly game, I drank samples of Bailey's and Kahlua from mouthwash cups, I tried on bad replicas of cocktail rings and contemplated buying the ring cause it was only $11.88 instead of $25, and played a game of bingo (and lost).
Overall, I had a good 8 days away, I enjoyed people watching and spending time with my family. This trip was simple and enjoyable. But I have to say I am glad to be back home. I am more appreciative of what is in my true reality after being kept away from it all. I enjoyed my trip to the grocery store this evening. It was good to drive again. It was good to do a few loads of laundry and good to write this post.
